DVI Fiber Optic Extender: Extend DVI-D Signals over Long Distances

Long distance transmission of DVI-D signals is possible using a DVI Fiber Extender. Models are classified on the basis of the DVI-D video connectors. The two major categories based on this classification are Single link DVI-D and Dual link DVI-D technology. Consisting of a transmitter and a receiver unit, these devices operate on simple plug and play functionality. The transmitter is connected to the source device, and the receiver is connected to the DVI display. Connections between these two units are secured using fiber optic cables. Once connected, the device can be powered on and is ready to operate. These cables protect data transmission from EMI and RFI and eliminate problems created by lightning and power surges.
The DVI fiber optic extender device relays signals over a LC type Multi-mode Fiber optic cable. The DVI Fiber extender single link supports WUXGA resolution (1920 x 1200) up to 1000m. The DVI Fiber extender over 4 fibers supports WUXGA resolution 1920 x 1200 up to 200m (650ft), UXGA resolution 1600 x 1200 up to 500m (1650ft), SXGA resolution 1280 x 1024 up to 700m (2300ft). The receiver and transmitter units consume a power of .75 Watt and have an operating temperature range of 32 F to 122 F and a storage temperature of -4 F to 158 F. These DVI over Fiber extenders are compact in size. DVI over Fiber extension devices are equipped with a standard DVI 24 pin plug and SC fiber connector. A key feature of this device is the ability to auto sense the resolution on each monitor along with the EMI shielding that prevents any external interference. CE, FCC and RoHS certified, these units can be used with DVI Single link or DVI Dual link monitors.
While a 4 strand fiber cable should be used with the single link extender, an 8 strand fiber cable should be used with the dual link extender. The single link or dual link is supported by the selectable function switcher. DVI Fiber Optic Extender is most commonly used for Digital signage applications, remote monitoring and training facilities, government and military organizations and educational institutions. This unit is ideal for use where the computer needs to be placed in an isolated location and the digital display is far away from the source
